Market Table is on one of my favorite blocks in New York. Carmine Street in the West Village is lined with hip, fun restaurants and you’ll find this one on the corner at Bedford St. The space is elegant and casual at the same time. Because of this, it lends itself to a lot of occasions. You could take your parents here, a date, or drop in with friends for brunch. There is a small bar and floor-to-ceiling windows which make it perfect for people watching.
When describing this restaurant to someone, buzz words like “seasonal” and “farm-to-table” always come to mind. The owners are restaurant vets who also own the acclaimed Little Owl and The Clam (I recommend checking them out as well). They have done a great job with staffing. Their team, from bussers to managers, are all kind and accommodating.
I wouldn’t categorize the food as exciting. That’s fine, not every meal has to change your life. In fact, I like a restaurant that is a consistent neighborhood joint you can dine at several times a week. The food is refreshingly uncomplicated, consistently good, and beautifully plated. Everything is seasoned well and approachable, which is why the dishes have such mass appeal. The menu is very vegetable heavy with a lot of variety. I have dined here for brunch and dinner, so you’ll find photos from both services below.
