Overview
I don't find my way into Gowanus very frequently, but A&E Supply owner Adam Harvey has given me (and many other people it seems) a reason to make the trip. The restaurant is part coffee shop, part butcher shop and part cafe. Harvey knows a thing or two about what he's doing, having come from the kitchens of Danny Meyer, Jean Georges, and David Burke. His restaurant is casual, with communal tables and a large open kitchen. The menu is stacked with comfort food like a buffalo chicken wedge salad, meatball parm, and hot fried chicken. The sandwiches are insanely good, with the meat coming from their own butcher shop. The roast beef with fried shallots, arugula and horse radish mayo will make you wonder why you ever bothered eating other roast beef before. When it comes to their burger they don't fuck around either. The meat is ground in house and served simply on a fresh bun with cheese and it is perfection.
